Product Description

Plumbing Pipe wall mount clothes rack is an industrial looking clothes rack and sheft unit made from plumbing pipe. Vintage style plumbing components finished in a range of colour options from standard galvanised pipe, raw steel or a painted finish. This clothes rack is designed to withstand a some weight since it is sitting on the floor surface and connected to the wall. Pictured is the Plumbing Pipe wall mount clothes rack painted light blue with matching shelves.

Shelf timber

Standard shelf is black formply at 350mm depth and 17mm thickness. This is fine for most weights at a total span of 1500mm or less but bear in mind a wider span will bow with too much weight.

The timber shelf can supplied as part of this kit. Screws are provided for timber, plaster and brick. The surface it is being attached to and the screws that are being used, will determine the weight load of the shelf itself. On a plasterboard it will withstand around 7 kg’s and for wood and masonry, it will hold to about 15 kgs.

This shelf is suitable for every building and any setting. From a wardrobe insert or freestanding clothes rack to a shop display rack, it can be made from a range of pipe surfaces and colors including bright blue or any other color specified.

Pipe fittings

This shelf can be made with a number of pipe finishes. From a standard galvanised finish with plain wall flanges to decorative wall flanges in raw steel. These can also be ordered with a painted finish.

Each piece of furniture we create starts with individual components that are then  soaked in solvent to remove all machine oil contaminant from the external surface and internal cavity. This oil is dirty and can weep from fittings if not eliminated. Galvanised steel is scrubbed with Scotch Brite to make the surface clean and free of most galvanising lumps machine scratches.  Raw steel parts are cleaned off using solvent and when assembled we give the surface a coat of thinned linseed oil to stop rusting and provide a smooth appearance. From time to time you should re apply Linseed oil thinned with turpentine to keep the surface clean and with it’s original luster.

We assemble using large vices and forged wrenches to ensure that the pipe’s tapered thread wont come undone.

Pipe surface and care

Both galvanised pipe and painted pipe will remain rust free for many years. Raw steel components are protected from rusting with a light coating of Linseed oil that, when dry provides a carbon black lustre. This can be re-applied to keep in good condition.
