Product Description

Industrial plumbing pipe seven level floor shelf kit is an industrial looking shelf made from plumbing pipe. This large floor shelf is made from vintage style plumbing components are finished in standard galvanised or black steel finish plumbing pipe. Designed to withstand a reasonable weight, this shelf is designed for many uses, from storing boxes and books, to plant feature stacking. This shelf will turn your everyday storage space into a main feature of the room.

This shelf is attached to the wall and floor by means of decorative steel flanges or plain galvanised flanges. The floor connection will take the weight and the wall connection will hold it in place. Shelves are located via holes drilled in correct location and install whilst constructing. We supply a diagram and instructions with this kit of parts.

Each shelf kit will require at least two upright brackets. Most shelf units will be comprised of 3 uprights but here you have a choice of two or three uprights as a calculated product. If you require 4 then order two “two uprights”. If you need 5 then order one “two uprights” and one “three uprights” on the order. You can also specify the length of the bottom pipe to get the bottom shelf away from the floor a little more.

Example pictured is a 3 upright black steel floor shelf with hardwood shelves 1900mm long and 255mm wide with a 22mm hole drilled 26mm in the center from the front of the shelf. The height of this example is 1525mm to the center of the top flange. The shelves are 285mm between levels with the top of the bottom shelf 480mm from the floor. This example uses hardware store supplied standard shelf width of 235mm and it “floats” a distance from the wall. To create a shelf unit that touches the wall you will need a shelf cut to 250mm width.

• 2 X 200mm threaded shelf leg and top lengths in Galvanised or Black steel
• 2 X 200mm threaded pipe legs in Galvanised or Black steel (for 470mm option)
• 1 X Plumbing pipe Coupler in Galvanised or Black steel
• 7 X Plumbing pipe Tees in Galvanised or Black steel
• 2 X Wall flanges in Galvanised or Black steel
• 8 X Pipe fitting Elbows in Galvanised or Black steel

The Shelf

Timber components are not included in this product. We can supply if required, shelf components to suit the exact length required for your project. Shelving timber is listed below. If you are supplying your own shelving the dimension will need to be your specific length X a width of 235mm-250mm. The hole that needs to be drilled out for the pipe to travel through will need to be 22mm. This can be hardwood, pine, or plywood.

The distance between each level of the shelf is 250mm and the distance from the wall is 250mm.

This fitting is built by hand one shelf at a time insitu. Flange screws are provided for timber, plaster or brick. This design can take quite a load but specific capacity is determined by the shelving material and the distance between uprights. For greater load bearing place uprights closer together.

Materials

Before you see our end products, they begin much differently. Each piece of furniture we create starts with individual components. When supplying an assembled shelf all galvanised components are prep washed by hand using Scotch Brite pads. DIY kit components come covered with a light oil protection and will need to be washed at least prior to assembly. When ordering as black steel pipe product, components are cleaned and to protect from rusting you should apply a light coat of Linseed oil after assembly. When ordered as a DIY kit these parts are supplied with a light oil to protect. These could be left as is or cleaned for DIY assembly.
